TRACES OF WRITING
I wanted these paintings to record the dilemma a painter faces when confronted by writing. The text is plainly legible in the original letter, but as a painter primarily concerned with shape and colour I'm resisting the temptation to "write" it. This results in a kind brainstorm of imagined colours as my poor brain desperately tries to hang on between these two irreconcilable forces.
