Impasto Flints and Grasses
One of those paintings that refused to resolve for weeks. Two discarded canvases; ten overpainted versions under this layer. The darkest and densest painting I've done. In the end I had to accept that this rather mysterious - and unexpectedly geometric solution was the one. It's now May, so I can leave the preserved trays of flints in my studio and look outside for inspiration again.
